FRUGAL - MAKING OF
Produced by ES.ARTE, the script of the short film ‘Frugal’ won the SEMINCI Factory competition in 2021. Directed by Juan Vicente Chuliá, ‘Frugal’, a mixture of suspense and film noir, addresses the difficult social integration of foreigners from the viewpoint of Olya, a woman of Russian origin played by actress Alba Frechilla.
In May 2021 I had the privilege to accompany the Frugal filming team in Valladolid, documenting their work during the recordings of the different scenes for a 'making of' video. Those days were unforgettable for me, I am very proud that I had the chance to contribute to a project that was an exquisite example of a fruitful cooperation between professionals.
Frugal, together with the 'making of' video was premiered at the 66th International Film Week (SEMINCI).
VIANA DE CEGA - BOOK
In 2021 I started working on a photography project documenting Viana de Cega, a village and popular summer resort in the province of Valladolid.
Through images and short, but sufficiently informative texts, my goal is to create a visually pleasing book about Viana and its surroundings. A certain visual compass, that focuses on the beauty of the village, a half album half book that can be equally presented to family friends and official delegations.
Viana de Cega is an atypical village that during the last decades has slowly turned into an attractive place to live for all generations. Indeed, Viana de Cega is one of the few villages that, despite the unfortunate demographic trends of Castile and León, has gained population in recent decades due to numerous factors: its proximity to Valladolid, a developed infrastructure, available services and its intact nature dominated by the Cega river and pine forests.
©VALLADOLID - BOOK
The book ©Valladolid is the result of more than three years of work. For me, it is an important milestone, by which, in a modest way, I could contribute to Valladolid’s promotion, a city I can call home for more than four years now.
As a journalist, the city is an eternal theme for me, a living fabric formed by the urban environment, cultural traditions and natural conditions. I remember my first day in Valladolid very clearly, that sunny and hot afternoon in February, when discovering the city I saw the Fabio Nelli Palace for the first time, as well as the majestic interior of the San Benito Church, the Plaza Mayor or the magnificent residential houses in the Acera de Recoletos street. That day I knew that I'd like to launch a cultural project, which would help to promote this unique city.
For that reason, I was trying to get to know the history of Valladolid. I have visited every local museum and all of the emblematic places of the city. I tried to get acquainted with many locals, I was eager to know their story and traditions while documenting everything I saw. I took more than ten thousand photographs of which I've selected about eight hundred for this book.
The book ©Valladolid presents more than 40 of the most important places of the city. Public buildings, museums, churches and monasteries, parks, squares and statues. Iconic places that help to understand the history of Valladolid. The architectural heritage of Valladolid is like an open history book for me. For that reason, the book begins with my favourite Spanish saying: "If you want to know about history, you must know Valladolid."
Editing the book, it was very clear to me that all periods of the city's architecture should be presented, from the La Antigua church and the Old Bridge (Puente Mayor) to the Science Museum and the modernist-style public buildings on Avenida de Salamanca.
Presenting the cultural and religious life of Valladolid was equally essential, therefore the book also has a chapter on the Holy Week.
Since the book is primarily a visual work, I tried to write short descriptions. For the finalization of the text, I consulted with Paz Altés Melgar many times, to whom I want to express my sincere thanks.
In my opinion, it is almost impossible to interpret a city without its surroundings. Therefore, it was very essential for me to present some emblematic towns around Valladolid that can be visited in one day. Iconic places that undoubtedly contribute to Valladolid’s touristic value. After all, one cannot separate the history of Valladolid from the General Archive of Simancas, the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara of Tordesillas or the castles in the hilly region Montes Torozos, built in an architectural style that bears the name of our city. DISCOVER VALLADOLID - CULTURAL PROJECT (2018 -)
The Discover Valladolid project started just after my arrival in Spain, with the aim of promoting the historical and cultural heritage of Valladolid. I have regularly published many of my photographs on Discover Valladolid’s social media platforms, but my work did not end at that point. Through a series of reports, I have tried to get to know the people of the city and the province. I did dozens of interviews, most of them I published in 10-15 minutes long videos to show the different aspects of the city and its people.
Through these interviews I got to know an ambitious and proud city, where tradition coexists with progress and where - contrary to many other places - the city's own character has been preserved.
I am very grateful for all those personal stories. One of the first interviews I did in front of the Casa Mantilla. The protagonist was Virginia Oñate, whose grandfather previously lived in that house and who, with his photographs, had documented the daily life of Valladolid during the first part of the 20th century.
I got to know the singer, musician and ethnographer Joaquín Diaz in Urueña, who one day showed me his foundation and its collection.
Also, I express my gratitude to Gilles Philippe Guzzi, the owner of the boat Pisuerga Legend (La Leyenda del Pisuerga), who one day accompanied me on his boat and showed me the river from different aspects.
It was a great honour to film at the Monastery of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, where Sister Esther showed me her pastries and spoke about the life of the nuns in the monastery. That report was especially successful, it was featured in various media and generated nearly 50,000 views on YouTube alone.
In my work I got to know the artists Andrés Trillo and Ana Nan who, within the framework of the collective exhibition project CreaVa, installed an artistic project on Teresa Gil Street.
I did reports on Holy Week and the brotherhoods of Valladolid, the House of India (Casa de la India), the potters of Portillo, the farmers of Tudela de Duero and the award-winning cooks of the Bar Puerto Chico in several editions.
All the reports that I have done so far about Valladolid and its surroundings were financed by me and are available on the Discover Valladolid YouTube channel.
RECONSTRUCTION OF THE BERLIN CITY CASTLE - RESEARCH PROJECT (2015-16)
As a journalist, the topics of cultural heritage, architecture, urban planning and history have always been very close to my interest, which in 2015 led me to the Free University of Berlin in Germany. As researcher of the scholarship program 'European scholarships for journalists' (Europäische Journalisten-Fellowships) I was dedicating my time to an urban project, investigating the political and social aspects of the reconstruction of the Royal Palace in Berlin. During that year I did interviews with architects, politicians and citizens about this very controversial reconstruction that, despite the very different points of views, was inaugurated in 2021. I hope that in the future I’ll be able to continue this project in a way, investigating the Berliners’ experiences about their new palace which is now called the Humboldt Forum.
RTL KLUB TELEVISION - HUNGARY
My career in broadcast media began at a local TV channel in my hometown from where I switched to RTL Klub in 2004. The 12 years that followed were profoundly defining in my life. I had the privilege to work freely as a journalist. I am very proud to have worked with exceptional colleagues who have created and maintained perhaps the most professional media team in the country. In the course of my time at RTL Klub I contributed to several programs, including the following ones:

Morning News (Reggeli Híradó)
(editor in charge)
‘21st Century’ (XXI Század)
